CO+HOOTS to co-host Challenge Cup, a global pitch competition, November 14.

What happens when CO+HOOTS joins forces with other coworking spaces, incubators and businesses in Arizona?

Big ideas, an awesome event and an overwhelming amount of AZ love.

It will all culminate on Nov. 14 at The Newton (300 W. Cambelback) in Phoenix with the first Challenge Cup Arizona, part of the opening round of a global pitch competition aimed to discover the most promising, scalable startups poised to solve the major challenges of our time. More than 1,000 startups in 45 cities worldwide are competing to reach the finals in Washington, D.C. and a chance at $1 million.

Eighteen of the best Arizona startups were chosen to pitch at Challenge Cup Arizona with the winner moving on to the second of three rounds of the global tournament.

Every year, 1776, a global incubator and seed fund based in Washington, D.C., hosts Challenge Cup. Startups advance through three rounds: Local, Regional and Global Finals. All of the regional winners and a host of wild cards will be invited to participate in the Challenge Cup Global Finals next June in Washington, D.C. There, they’ll compete for over $1 million in prizes, as well as spend time with the investors, customers, media and other key connections that can help them succeed on a global scale.

(This July, 1776 chose CO+HOOTS to represent Arizona in Startup Federation, a global network of the world’s top incubators and coworking space. The federation seeks to build density globally and build an ecosystem that transcends geographic boundaries so that our world’s most promising entrepreneurs and young companies can access the resources they need to scale regardless of the city they choose to call home.)

We know that Arizona has a crazy generous community, but we were still blown away by how many people stepped up to the plate to make the night happen. Seedspot, Blind Society, Coplex, StartupAZ Foundation, Local First ARIZONA, Nerdery, Stealthmode Partners, Deskhub, CEI, Hopscratch, ATI, Chandler Innovations (powered by Nacet) The Newton, and Giftcard Zen are all involved with making #challengecupaz real life.

What will Nov. 14 look like? A rapid fire pitch night. Startups will each have two minutes on stage to present its marketability and scalability. Judges will have one minute to ask any questions. This goes on for 18 startups, and the judges will then deliberate and select three winners to move on to regionals.
